About

The Hoosier Daddy Rifle and Pistol Team traces its existence back to the original Hoosier Daddy Team (Shotgun), that began in the mid to late 2000. The original team started out as a shotgun only team with disciplines of Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays.

After a few years around the early 2010s a group of original team members branched out and began shooting rifle and pistol disciplines as well. This group was the beginning of what we now know today as the Hoosier Daddy Rifle and Pistol Team.

During this time the Hoosier Daddy Shotgun Team practiced at the Atterbury Range Complex near Edinburgh, Indiana while the Hoosier Daddy Rifle and Pistol Team practiced at the Hoosier Hills Rifle and Pistol Range near Gnaw Bone, Indiana.

An official split of the original Hoosier Daddy team came around 2017 with the formulation of the Hoosier Daddy Shotgun Team as it retained its original 501c3 status and the start of the Official Hoosier Daddy Rifle and Pistol Team as the team formed its own board of directors as well as forming its own 501c3. Officially allowing each team to operate independently.

The Hoosier Daddy Rifle and Pistol Team was a growing and upcoming team until the 2020 season. That year with the Covid pandemic, like many other sports and activities, a downturn of team members participation and match attendance occurred. Costs skyrocketed for firearms and ammo at this time also limiting participation. Through the hard work of the Coaches, Athletes, and the Board of Directors the team continued and persevered through the pandemic.

The Hoosier Daddy Rifle and Pistol Team also hosts the Indiana State SASP tournament at the South-Central Gun Club in Freetown Indiana. This facility was a larger facility that was more conducive than the team’s home range of Hoosier Hills for a large tournament.

Quickly after the 2020 season the team rebounded and by 2022, the team again had many kids participating in the sport. For a few years (except during the pandemic), the team had known if an increase in participation occurred, a larger practice facility would be needed. The South-Central Gun Club had always welcomed the State SASP tournament and knowing that kids are the future of shooting sports, they welcomed The Hoosier Daddy Rifle and Pistol Team to their facility.

In 2023, the official move occurred to the current home range of South-Central Gun Club in Freetown, Indiana.
